Business Operations Manager
The Company
Private Tech was founded in early 2022 by Palantir and Anduril alums with deep expertise in privacy and national security. Our mission is to be a force for good in global wireless.
We believe that where we are, where we go, and whom we are with is among our most personal information and should be kept private. Empowering citizens with strong technology to enable privacy is key to realizing the full value of the internet and mobile devices. And we won’t sacrifice user experience along the way.
We have raised money from Andreesen Horowitz and XYZ, and are growing the team.
The Role
This is our first business operations hire. The company is in a period of rapid growth, and we are bringing someone on to help scale our business processes to keep up.
From day one, you will work directly with the CEO to begin taking over large pieces of our financial, legal, marketing, talent, and office operations. Your job is to examine existing systems critically and improve them where they need it, to create new systems where none exist, and ensure that we can keep growing and building towards our launch later this year.
Autonomy is a must, creativity is encouraged, and there is enormous growth potential in this role.
To join our team, you should be excited to:
Dive into a well-funded early-stage startup. We’re building 0-1 and that’s hard. Be comfortable getting a little uncomfortable.
Reclaim some of the personal privacy we have all sacrificed over the last 15 years as smartphone adoption has grown, and as the AdTech industry has grown with it.
Build a company focused on hard, important problems with serious implications for consumer privacy and national security.
This role is hybrid, based in our office just outside Washington, DC in Rosslyn, VA. We value in person interactions and culture, and so do not offer fully remote work. The baseline expectation is 3 days per week in the office. We are opening a New York office soon, and some travel to New York will likely be required.
We offer competitive salary, equity to all employees, and have excellent benefits including a $0 PPO health plan, 401(k) matching, and generous vacation.
Qualifications
3+ years of relevant operations experience, or an MBA from a respected university.
Excellent execution, precise communications, and a knack for systemization.
A desire to grow with the role, but a belief that no task is too small.
Bonus points for familiarity with the SaaS solutions that run a business: Rippling, Brex, Atlassian, Slack, etc.
Our Culture
We are builders, and we choose to spend our time building things that matter. Many of our people have backgrounds in Defense Tech and the defense and intelligence community. We build to win.
We hire excellent people, give them outsized responsibility, and trust them to execute at a high level. Everyone here has a track record of solving hard problems throughout their careers.
We believe that personal privacy and national security interests are not inherently at odds, and can be reconciled via strong technology.
We believe that companies exist to build awesome things and take care of their people, and our benefits reflect that– top tier health care, 401(k) matching, and a generous vacation policy (that people actually use).
We hire candidates of any race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital or family status, disability, Veteran status, and any other status. Achieving diversity across these categories will serve to make our company stronger and our product better.
